Draft Proposition/ Dialogue
Dialogue on two people . Character #1 is the old school so called "Grease Monkey" (Auto Mechanic) and Character#2 is the today (Auto Technician)
Today we are going to be talking about how important and beneficial being an auto technician is among other career jobs. Also how much credit Mechanics (grease monkeys) and Technicians deserve.
Character#1 : Greetings friend, how are you?
Character#2: Hello old friend.
Character#1: Hows being a mechanic in the Automotive industry coming along after i retired 20 years ago.
Character#2: Its marvelous, were considered Auto technicians now since we are so high tech with computers and all this new technology is starting to innovate within the world.
Character#1: Why! how much i would had loved to be considered as a technician in my 45 years as a "Grease Monkey".
Character#2: How so?
Character#1: Well, when i was still a mechanic, we had no appreciation as to the jobs we would do and were declassified as " not too bright". We were just known for being brutal and good with our hands.
Character#2: If it wasn't for you old guys i don't think Manufacturers would be who they are today, every bit of a mechanic helps shape up the way we work today. Most of the old mechanics who stayed to become technicians eventually made up the ranks to the top of the ladder.
Character#1: When you put it that way, it sounds good. But we didn't get much recognition except for "hey you over there fix this wheel, or hey grease ball fix this intake manifold" .
Character#2: As time goes by, things change along with innovation. Being and Auto Technician now pays somewhat good. in fact its a little more than living wage .
Character#1: According to " Rocket Scientist or Auto Mechanic? The Distinction Is Blurring" by Scott Sturgis, The automotive industry has become more complex over the years, many technicians are needed every year due to the older ones retiring. But how can you believe in something that only cares about their income.
Character#2: That's exactly my point, they need us and we need them. But According to " Goodbye , grease monkey... Hello , auto technician." from the Pittsburgh post . They're saying that us auto mechanics as well technicians are going to be so prepared that "the Automobile industry start to lose great Technicians to other engineering fields, because of how capable and advanced they are".
